Babywearing Dads Rock: B-SAFE and SURE Guidelines

There's just something so sweet about a dad wearing his baby and there are so many benefits too:⁣

𝟷. 𝘉𝘰𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨⁣

Babies seem to prefer their moms from birth, but so many dads find that once they take the plunge and start babywearing, their little ones become really happy to be with them and settle much easier. Babies become accustomed to your smell and the sound of your voice, and wearing them skin-to-skin is an amazing way for dads to bond with their babies too.⁣

𝟸. 𝘎𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘗𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘯𝘦𝘳 𝘢 𝘉𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘬⁣

This one is very important! We all need a break from time to time. Babywearing allows dads to go do pretty much anything with their baby. Even if it’s just a walk around the block and best of all... most babies can't resist napping off... bonus! Finally some cuddletime with your significant other too!⁣

𝟹. 𝘚𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘦𝘴 𝘉𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘘𝘶𝘪𝘤𝘬𝘭𝘺 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘌𝘢𝘴𝘪𝘭𝘺⁣

Nothing settles a baby faster than having them close to you, all cuddled up snugly, feeling safe and loved. From teething to witching hour, once they're wrapped up tight it’s a matter of minutes before they are calm and usually asleep. Carrying style 3 is amazing for babies who suffer from reflux and colic - the upright position relieves winds and helps them digest their feeds much easier.⁣

𝟺. 𝘏𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘴𝘧𝘳𝘦𝘦 𝘏𝘶𝘨𝘴 ⁣

This one is my favourite! Dads love hugging and cuddling their babies. Babywearing allows them to do all the things that need to be done while cuddling away, and sneaking in those kisses. ⁣

𝟻. 𝘚𝘭𝘦𝘦𝘱𝘺 𝘋𝘶𝘴𝘵⁣

Everyone who babywears will testify that all wraps and carriers come with sleepy dust. Being warm, held tightly, feeling safe and secure and hearing your heartbeat - are the perfect ingredients for naptime! It's great when baby is fighting sleep due to FOMO, and especially when they're sick and need to get some rest.⁣

𝟼. 𝘔𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘍𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘚𝘵𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳⁣

Every time you wear your baby, you're doing weightlifting... it’s like having free gym membership! Speaking of which... have you tried our Hipporoo Babywearing Workouts yet? Dads are more than welcome to join too!⁣

𝟽. 𝘐𝘵 𝘓𝘦𝘵𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘎𝘦𝘵 𝘚𝘵𝘶𝘧𝘧 𝘋𝘰𝘯𝘦⁣

I honestly don’t know how parents get anything done without babywearing! If Little Man is a bit clingy or upset and wants our undivided attention, we simply strap on the Hipporoo®︎ and violà... dishwasher packed, dogs walked, weekly mealprepping done!  ⁣

𝟾. 𝘌𝘢𝘴𝘺 𝘈𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘈𝘯𝘺𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦⁣

Ever tried to push a pram around a really busy mall, or up a mountain, or worse yet... push an empty pram and carry your baby at the same time!? Not easy, right? Babywearing eliminates all these problems. You can easily walk around the busiest of shops, do some hiking, and if your little one can walk but gets tired, pop it in your eco-friendly carrier bag for "just-in-case".⁣

𝟿. 𝘐𝘵 𝘓𝘰𝘰𝘬𝘴 𝘈𝘸𝘦𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦!⁣

Some people think that babywearing isn’t manly. There are lots of carriers and wraps that look awesome and are ‘manly’ and super dad-friendly. Bet the ladies can vouch for this!

𝟷𝟶. 𝘍𝘦𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘎𝘰⁣

Most people know that moms can breastfeed while babywearing, but dads can also bottle feed. When Little Man was still feeding, hubbie would feed and braai at the same time with the Hipporoo®︎... probably not the most responsible thing to do but hey... a Dad's got to do what a Dad's got to do!

If you're into babywearing I'm sure you've heard of the T.I.C.K.S Rule for Safe Babywearing (Tight, In View, Close Enough to Kiss, Keep Chin Off Chest, Supported Back), but here's a Dad's take too:
